RICOH Mobile PrintScan

The post-PC world is experiencing exponential growth in use of smartphones and tablets with the corporate ushering in the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) era. A study by Forbes showed a combined 131% increase in enterprise-issued tablets in 2011 and experts are of the opinion that this trend will continue to grow. BYOD now plays a key role in many businesses and organisations, such as law firms, government agencies, and educational institutions.

Survey companies are a typical example of businesses that require a mobile workforce—they conduct thousands of surveys on behalf of their target audience each year. A key requirement of a mobile workforce is the ability to print and scan any documents anywhere, at anytime. Users with mobile devices running smart applications can help businesses in keep costs low and lower the need for 24x7 IT support. The workforce also benefits in terms of mobility, flexibility, and increased productivity levels.

Ricoh Mobile PrintScan is a BYOD solution that provides a hassle-free solution that’s easy to use, and quick to employ at anytime, anywhere.

What is Mobile PrintScan?

The Mobile PrintScan app is a BYOD solution that empowers the mobile workforce to become more flexible and productive with printing, scanning, and document management on their personal mobile devices—without having to go through complicated or tedious setup procedures.

To scan a document, the user places their documents into the document feeder of a multifunction product (MFP) and sets appropriate scan preferences before pressing Start to scan the documents to their mobile device.

To print a document stored on their mobile device, the user selects the document and the MFP to print to. The user can then walk up to the MFP to print and collect the printed document.

The Mobile PrintScan software consists of two modules:

  • Mobile PrintScan software—This application is automatically deployed directly on the target MFP. There is no need for additional software or equipment or to interrupt current workflows
  • Mobile PrintScan App—This app for Apple devices can be downloaded from iTunes. The app is installed directly onto the user’s mobile device—app settings will be based on the user’s personal settings.

ECO Night Sensor

ECO Night Sensor Ricoh’s ECO Night Sensor is an energy saving feature that works by detecting the amount of ambient light in the room. Depending on available settings in a Ricoh device, it automatically turns off the device’s main power, or shifts it to Energy Saver Mode, when the amount of light falls below a certain level. The latest version of ECO Night Sensor also turns the power on when the amount of light increases. The sensor detects the increase and fall of both natural and artificial light, significantly reducing the device’s power consumption and running cost How does it work?  The sensor is located on the operation panel, and its settings can be changed at the operation panel display. The settings include the level of light that triggers the power off timer, and the amount of time for a device to turn off after the light threshold was detected.  Brightness level When ECO Night Sensor detects the light level threshold, the timer is activated....

The work together, anywhere revolution – is here to stay

Ricoh’s Director of Strategy and Innovation, Mike Baddeley discusses the paradigm shift happening right now. With over 30 years in the technology industry, he’s been mapping and predicting the trends we now find ourselves implementing in weeks, rather than years. This article takes a look at how our workstyles are influencing our interaction with technology and what this means for us all. During this period of accelerated remote working, video conferencing has become the key collaboration tool for many. But more than simply connecting us for a virtual face to face has inadvertently enabled a mini social experiment. As people have begun to play with the editable background in some collaboration tools, it has become a window into where the person on the call would like to be. But how much does the choice of these backgrounds reveal about our personalities and, more than that, how much do they reveal about our human desires? Our urge to connect with people in places we dream of being. Per...
